Shut-eye Pods

You probably wouldn't want to spend a week in one, but if you feel like crashing out between international flights, try one of these new pod hotels from the creators of London's YO! Sushi restaurants. Inspired by British Airways' first class cabins and Japanese capsule hotels, YOtel will be opening at Gatwick and Heathrow airports in the spring.

These funky little dorm rooms are only 10.5 square meters but are fully kitted out with ports for iPods or MP3 players, workstations, free Internet access, and on-demand movies. They will be available for booking in four-hour blocks at around £25/$50.

I’ve always had this weird dream of having a cozy little hide away room in major public buildings all over the world. The kind of place where you can escape through a discreet door, right under the noses of the throngs of people outside into your own private oasis of comfort. This is kind of like that and so that makes it awesome.

This is such a cool idea! Perhaps the U.S. should do this! It would make booking flights with long layovers a lot more desirable! Also, who wants to freshen up & change clothes in an airport bathroom! Great idea!!!

Any comments?
