Rent A Castle
The Castle Rental Network offers an almost mouthwatering assortment of castles, historic manor houses and chateaux in Ireland, the UK and France. Take the Château de La Flocellière (I’d love to). It’s a private castle located in the Loire which you can stay at by the day, week or month. Choose from the 15th-century Keep or the 17th-century Pavillon Louis XIII. The tower sleeps ten and costs 1,900 euros per week in the summer.
Alternatively, how about Lough Cutra Castle (above) in County Galway, Ireland? It was designed by John Nash and built by the Payne Brothers in the early 19th century. It’s located in the middle of its own 1500 acre estate, and sleeps 40.
On the smaller side, Château de la Coutancière (above) in the Loire dates dates back to the beginning of the 19th century and sleeps a maximum of 20 persons.
At 12,000 euros per week is the stylish Chateau de la Couronne (above) near Angouleme in France. It boasts ‘high ceilings, exposed stone walls and huge fireplaces … with an eclectic blend of ornate antiques, 60s and 70s design classics, commissioned pieces and original art.’
Finally, here’s Buckland House in Devon, England – a Grade II Star mansion sitting in unspoilt rural countryside. It sleeps 30, and comes in at just under 6000 GBP per week in the height of summer. Well, it is a castle after all. Below are some more castle for your pleasure. RM
