Eco-Community Retreat, Umbria, Italy
Eco-Community Retreat is a small, traditional Umbrian community and retreat based in a 15th century farm hamlet perched on a ridge over-looking 47 hectares of olive-groves, vineyards and woodlands.
The vision behind the retreat is to build a model sustainable community that celebrates the best of traditional Umbrian living, providing a beautiful, rejuvenating and inspiring home and experience for visitors from around the world.
During their stay, guests have the opportunity to immerse themselves in a way of life that’s been going on for centuries. It’s a community experience, adventure and retreat rolled into one. Life at the retreat revolves around food, planting, pruning, harvesting, preserving and cooking – and farm animals feeding, nurturing and horse riding.
Other projects and activities can include earth building, green technology workshops as well as music (there’s a studio and a lot of local musicians), art and plenty of walks. Twice a day, everyone such as workers, visitors and residents come together to enjoy a homegrown meal.
Visitors can get involved as little or as much as they like with on-site projects and activities, learn new skills, relax by the pool, take in the beautiful scenery, play with the animals and enjoy their very own slice of the Italian good life.
