Silent, green trains

We've noticed there is a trend in Europe towards silent, green trains. Sleek, modern trams that run through cities on grass-lined tracks, blending with their environment and looking effortlessly futuristic at the same time. Go to Barcelona, Strasbourg and apparently Frankfurt, and you'll find them – but our favorite is the Euskotren, a new tram service in Bilbao, that runs along the Nervion river past the Guggenheim.

We're all for public transport, especially the kind that adds to the beauty of a city, rather than detracts from it. The Euskotren runs at speeds of up to 50km/h and sounds about as noisy as an average car. To someone who has spent far too many hours of her life rattling around on the dark, sweaty London Underground, this sounds like paradise. RM
