Please make this car
Yes, this is a plea. There aren't enough cars like this in the world. Please, Ford. You brought it into being – now follow through.
Ten years ago, the design team at Ford took a chance on a new concept car by asking furniture and interior designer Marc Newson to come up with an idea. This is what he created. The Ford 021C.
Newson (who owns an Aston Martin DB4) named it after his favorite Pantone color, and wanted it to be 'light, likeable and fun' – a 'car' the way a child would draw it. To this end, he added some fantastic designs elements such as a pull-out trunk, wide-opening doors and swivel seats.
Apparently, at its unveiling, it was almost universally mocked. Someone has suggested that it was brought out ten years too early. A small, affordable and fuel-efficient vehicle at a time when everyone was buying SUVs?
We'll take you now, 021C. RM
