How much easier would traveling be if you could take your house with you? No need to pack, no worries about forgetting your passport, no need to book hotels… Well, Hotelmovil comes about as close as we're going to get to that fantasy for now (apart from RVs, of course, but I refuse to count them). It's a hotel that can be hauled around on an 18-wheel trailer platform. Park it, press 'play' on a remote control, and your hotel pops out. Really.
OK, so it's not instant. It takes about 30 minutes for the hydraulic unfolding to take place. Then, amazingly, this Spanish hotel on wheels is capable of housing 50 people in five-star luxury. Well, almost – it only has 11 rooms, so luxury would depend on your companions not snoring or stumbling in drunk at 4am.
The rooms are split between two floors over 135 square meters: eight en-suite rooms with bunk beds on the bottom, and three luxury suites, with sun decks, on top.
Suggested uses for Hotelmovil are mobile hotels, hospitals, band tour buses and television studios. Like the idea? You can have one all your own for $500,000, or rent one for $8,000 a weekend. (Love Hotelmovil? Check out Travelpod and Exploranter.) RM
