1 – For a hotel with more celebs per square inch than any other, try the One and Only Palmilla,, Los Cabos, in Mexico. Los Cabos is close to LA, so it attracts the A-list in droves. Famous names seen there include Jessica Alba, Sandra Bullock, Gwyneth Paltrow, Chris Martin, Kate Beckinsale, Oprah Winfrey, John Travolta, Kelly Preston, Tom Cruise, Celine Dion, Hugh Jackman, Leonard DiCaprio and Richard Gere. Imagine that crowd gathered round the swimming pool…

2 – Another Los Cabos favorite is Las Ventanas al Paraiso, which has played host to Barbra Streisand, Leonardo DiCaprio, Robin Williams and Kevin Costner.

3 – Then there’s Marquis Los Cabos Reforma, San Jose Del Cabo, where Spike Lee, Magic Johnson, David Hasselhoff and Natasha Henstridge have all hung out.

1917 Celebrity Hideaways 4 – Vying for pole position is another Mexican retreat, Cabo San Lucas's Esperanza. The beautiful people who have been spotted there: Jennifer Aniston, Paul McCartney, Oprah Winfrey, Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow (who honeymooned here), Jennifer Aniston, Brad Pitt, Gisele Bundchen, Jennifer Garner, Michael Vartan, Paul McCartney, Jada Pinkett-Smith, Will Smith and Owen Wilson.

5 – Other hot escapes in Mexico include the Maroma Resort and Spa, on Riviera Maya, which has been frequented by Tom Cruise, Sharon Stone, Cameron Diaz, Matt Dillon and Sean Penn.

6 – … and Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita, which has boasted guests as illustrious as Vince Vaughn, Jennifer Aniston, Elton John, Bill Gates, Madonna, John Travolta and Nicolas Cage.

1907 Celebrity Hideaways 7 – Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt pretty much put Namibia on the map when they hid here from the paparazzi, while expecting the birth of baby Shiloh. No doubt owners of the Burning Shore Resort are very grateful indeed.

8 – …Their choice of retreat in Kenya? Alfarji Villas on Diani Beach.

9 – More recently the Jolie-Pitts were spotted at the Caneel Bay Resort in St John, US Virgin Islands.

10 – Bora Bora is hotter than hot these days in celeb-land. Sharon Stone, Brendan Fraser and Keanu Reeves have all been spotted at Hotel Bora Bora.

1910 Celebrity Hideaways 11 … while Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban honeymooned at the St Regis Resort, Bora Bora, and Eva Longoria and Tony Parker were close on their heels (to Bora Bora, not marriage, that is).

12 – Screen idols Laurence Olivier and Vivien Leigh tied the knot at the San Ysidro Ranch in Santa Barbara, California. J-Lo and Marc Anthony followed suit, while Julia Roberts and Danny Moder honeymooned here. Also spotted… Paul McCartney, Oprah Winfrey and Gwyneth Paltrow.

13 – If golf’s your game, the place to go is Pebble Beach, California, and the place to stay – Casa Palmero. Kevin Costner, Michael Douglas, Samuel L. Jackson, Bill Murray and Clint Eastwood have all been there and done that.

14 – For a classic getaway, La Quinta Resort & Club in the Santa Rosa Mountains of California is loved by British royalty David and Victoria Beckham, as well as Oprah Winfrey, Michael Jordan, Britney Spears, Bill Murray and Barbra Streisand.

1908 Celebrity Hideaways 15 – Another hot spot for celebs these days is Miami. Janet Jackson was recently spotted at the Ritz-Carlton in South Beach.

16 – Stay at the Halekulani on the Hawaiian island of Oahu and you may brush shoulders with Halle Berry, John Travolta, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Ben Affleck, Paula Abdul or Randy Jackson.

17 – The Hollywood elite love Spring Creek Ranch above Jackson Hole in Wyoming. Watch out for Jim Carrey, Sandra Bullock, Christina Ricci, Uma Thurman, Matthew McConaughey, Christie Brinkley and Ron Howard who have all been spotted there.

18 – Guests at the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess, Arizona have included Val Kilmer, Michael Douglas, Robin Williams and Jerry Seinfeld.

19 – A little farther off the beaten track, Richard Gere was found vacationing with his family at the Hotel Marina Copan, Honduras, the same hotel where John F and Jackie Kennedy honeymooned.

1911 Celebrity Hideaways 20 – Sandy Lane in Barbados must have something for everyone – check out the eclectic guest list for this resort: Tiger Woods (who married here Elin Nordegren here), Beyonce and Jay Z, Cindy Crawford, Donatella Versace and Simon Cowell.

21 – Spotted at Hotel Le Toiny on St. Barts … Beyonce and Jay Z, Uma Thurman, Andre Balaz, Mariah Carey, Kate Moss, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Brad Pitt.

22 – Strawberry Hill Resort, Jamaica, used to be the site of a farm where Bob Marley hid out. Today it’s a luxury spa, where, if you’re lucky, you might find his son Ziggy Marley and wife Lauren Hill holed up.

23 – Also in Jamaica, you can hang out in the fabulously low-key cabins of Jake’s Resort on Treasure Beach, a well-known home-from-home for supermodels like Kate Moss.

24 – Nearby, you can rent Ralph Lauren’s luxury cottage at Round Hill Hotel and Villas, Jamaica.

25 – Mick Jagger has a home on Mustique, and other stars such as Tom Hanks, David Bowie, Tommy Hilfiger, Liz Hurley and Hugh Grant have all holidayed on the Caribbean island. The residence of choice? The Cotton House.

1918 Celebrity Hideaways 26 – Bruce Willis and designer Donna Karan have their own houses at Parrot Cay, Turks & Caicos. Meanwhile, Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner married there.

27 – Also in Turks & Caicos, watch out for Tina Turner and Will Smith, both of whom have stayed at Amanyara.

28 – F Scott Fitzgerald immortalized French hotel, The Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc in his novel, Tender is the Night, and stars such as Madonna, Antonia Banderas, Steven Spielberg, Linda Evangelista, Ringo Starr and Charlie Sheen are keeping the glamour factor high.

29 – Another European classic… Brigitte Bardot, Madonna and Julia Roberts all love Villa San Michele in Florence, Italy.

30, 31 – When in Switzerland, the places to go are Badrutt's Palace or the Klum Hotel in St Moritz. Expect to see George Clooney and European royalty swanning about town.

32 – For those who prefer to hide away in the city, try the classic splendor of the Hotel Cipriani on Giudecca Island, a five-minute boat ride from St. Mark's Square in Venice. Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas, Mick Jagger, Tommy Lee Jones, Clint Eastwood, Michelle Pfeiffer, Richard Gere and Sharon Stone have all been there. Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman honeymooned at the hotel.

1914 Celebrity Hideaways 33 – It may not hide wonderfully well, but Britney Spears and Kevin Federline, as well as Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey, all honeymooned on gorgeous Turtle Island in the south Pacific.

34 – In the short time they were married, Britney Spears and Kevin Federline managed to renew their wedding vows – at The Four Seasons Resort Mau.

35 – Another ill-fated match – Denise Richards and Charlie Sheen – honeymooned at Cap Juluca, Anguilla.

36 – Famously divorced Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston took over the exclusive Fregate Island Private in the Seychelles, booking out every one of the isle’s 16 chalets.

37 – Former couple Christina Applegate and Johnathon Schaech honeymooned at Bora Bora Nui Resort & Spa.

38 – Now-exes, Matt LeBlanc and Melissa McKnight tied the knot and honeymooned at Princeville, Kauai, Hawaii.

39 – Meanwhile, Tori Spelling honeymooned with first husband Charlie Shanian at Villa D’Este, Lake Como, Italy, where Ava Gardner and Frank Sinatra used to hide away.

40 – …Second time around, with Dean McDermott, Tori tried The Wakaya Club in Fiji.

1913 Celebrity Hideaways 41 – Happy couple Cindy Crawford and Randy Gerber married barefoot on the beach at The One & Only Ocean Club, Paradise Island, Bahamas.

42 – … Courteney Cox and David Arquette spent part of their honeymoon at La Samanna, Orient-Express resort on the Caribbean island of St Martin.

43 – … Kevin Costner and Christine Baumgartner honeymooned at the Old Course Hotel at St Andrew’s, Scotland.

44 – When it came time to plan her own wedding, style guru Rachel Ray chose an 11th century castle near Siena, Italy – Castello di Velona Montalcino.

1912 Celebrity Hideaways 45 – It was another Italian castle for Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes – Odescalchi Castle in Lake Bracciano, Italy.

46 – …and where do you go when money really isn’t an object? Bill and Melinda Gates married at the Four Seasons Resorts Lana’i at Manele Bay, Lanai, Hawaii.

47, 48, 49 – … Better still, why not buy the hotel? If you’re a fan of Francis Ford Coppola, here’s a tip on where to find him. He owns three hotels and spends a great deal of time in each of them. The Blancaneaux Lodge and Turtle Inn are both in Belize, and La Lancha can be found in Guatemala near the Mayan ruins of Tikal.

50 – A few years ago, U2’s Bono and The Edge stepped in to save the famous The Clarence in Dublin. If you’re lucky, you might find them drinking next to you at the hotel’s Octagon Bar.

1909 Celebrity Hideaways 51 – Maverick billionaire Richard Branson owns his own private island, Necker Island, a frequent bolt-hole for other gazillionaires like Michael Douglas, Oprah Winfrey, Mariah Carey, Harrison Ford, Mel Gibson, Pamela Anderson and Steven Spielberg.

52 – Other business-minded celebs include Clint Eastwood, who owns the Mission Ranch Carmel, in Carmel. Stay there long enough and you may catch a glimpse of the actor-turned-director.

    I would like to find out if any celebrities would ever want to hide away in British Columbia canada away from all civilization in BC.The only way in is by float plane or 4X4.It is at the foot of the Columbia mountains.We are just wondering if there would be any investors out there that would be interested in our dream in the most picturesque part of the world.And it is on the deepest glacier fed lake in the world.Thanks for you time Cheers Peter

    It might have been John Jr. As I recalled he liked visiting the Bay Islands in Honduras (my country), so he might as well have visited mainland.

    By the way, your site is very interesting, been hours on it. I didn’t mean it as negative criticism!

    Ooops. You’re right. According to the JFK Presidential Library, who would probably know, ‘Late in the afternoon on September 12, 1953, Senator and Mrs. Kennedy departed Hammersmith Farm amid a shower of paper-rose petals. They traveled to New York to spend the night at the Waldorf Astoria before continuing on to Acapulco, Mexico for a two-week honeymoon.’ Thanks for pointing it out!

    Item 19? The hotel Marina Copan did not even exist in JFK’s times. ??? I thought he and Jackie had honeymooned in Acapulco???
