Reasons to be thankful
According to the US Bureau of Transportation Statistics, there is no busier day than today for long-distance travel. For Americans, at least.
Thanksgiving Day is busier than Christmas, busier than New Year, busier even than the day before Thanksgiving.
During the six-day Thanksgiving travel period, they say, 'the number of long-distance trips (to and from a destination 50 miles or more away) increases by 54 percent… compared to the average number for the remainder of the year.'
And of the six-day period, today is the busiest.
What makes us travel? Today perhaps, it's all about family. But in general travel is one of those things we should be most thankful for.
The chance to open our eyes a little wider, breathe a little more deeply, knowing that we are blessed to be able to wander this beautiful planet of ours. Happy Thanksgiving. RM
