The Bloody Pond

Sometimes traveling is not about seeing pretty sights, but about experiencing history. The Battle of Shiloh was a major battle in the American Civil War, fought on April 6 and 7, 1862 in southwestern Tennessee. There were 24,000 casualties in a two-day battle where the Union Army of West Tennessee faced the Confederate Army of Mississippi. The waters of this pond were said to have turned red because of the many soldiers who crawled here to have their last drink. And yet here are some things worth fighting for. TP
