Sheer Folly

In an ideal world, we would all have private islands with watchtowers, but until we do, this one on Baron Island is available to rent for an undisclosed sum of money.

Baron Island, off the coast of southern Spain near Cartagena, is a stunning volcanic outcrop that features a hilltop folly designed by Frank Lloyd Wright in the 1950s. The five-storey tower boasts eccentrically appointed circular rooms on five floors, and houses up to fourteen people. The 220-acre island is reached by a 30-minute boat ride from the mainland and offers great beaches and perfect seclusion — as well as great views.
