Road to nowhere?
At first glance this road looks like it ends abruptly. What it in fact does is far more interesting. Have a look at the following pictures of Norway's Atlantic Road and you'll see why many describe it as one of the world's most scenic drives.
The Atlantic Ocean Road, or Atlanterhavsvegen, is only 8km in length, but it packs quite a punch. The picture below shows what happens when you get over the bridge. The road crosses bridges that link a series of tiny islands, until it finally reaches the ocean at Hustadvika.
In addition to the breathtaking scenery, the route also offers the chance to spot whales and seals off the shore. Idyllic on a calm day. A little less so should a storm break. RM
