Island for rent
Let's face it, most of us are unlikely to be able to own private islands, but it is possible to rent them. Here's a great one – Guana Island in the Caribbean. Billed as the 'Virgin Island that still is', it could be yours (for a few days at least).
Here are the stats: 850 acres, seven beaches, 32 guests, one island. That's 26 acres per guest, and 4.5 guests per beach.
The island was once a sugar cane plantation owned by American Quakers, and the simple style of the resort reflects this heritage.
Accommodation is in cottages, sprinkled around the island's coast. The North Beach Cottage, the only one on that side of the island, is nestled among grape trees. Jost House and Harbour House both having stunning views of the island.
