Dellis Cay, a highly exclusive resort in the Turks and Caicos has dreams of uniting the worlds of celebrity, fashion, design and architecture under the banner of a clear Caribbean sky. The island itself is enough to take your breath away. Sparkling emerald waters lead to one of the world's most pristine coral reefs, there are endless views of the Provinciales, and the 35 miles of beach back up to lush protected mangroves. Throw top designers from London, Toyko and Milan into the mix, and things really start to heat up.
Acclaimed architects like Shigeru Ban, David Chipperfield and Zaha Hadid are working on the transformation of this previously uninhabited island into a tropical labryinth of treetop houses, beach front villas, five-star restaurants, a 30,000 sq ft over-water spa and a brand spanking new Mandarin Oriental.
Dellis Cay won't be open until next year, but in the meantime, its website offers a great insight into what's happening there. You can descend on the island from space, home in on each of the new properties currently being built, and dream about running away to one of Chad Oppenheim's Treetop Villas (below) or Carl Ettensperger's Overwater Villas.
We should all live like this, all the time..
