Bathe like an emperor

The hot springs of Panticosa in the Spanish Pyrenees have been known for their healing properties since the time of Roman Emperor Tiberius. Today if you visit the site, you'll find the Termas de Tiberio.

Designed by Belén Moneo and Jeff Brock, the building that now houses the ancient baths is a striking blend of strong lines, rounded edges and light, blended with the surrounding nature.

Treatments are given in the Cubicles area, but there is an array of inspiring international facilities built around the thermal waters.

There's a hot open-air pool from which guests can watch the stars over the mountains, a hot sand beach on which to relax after treatments, an igloo, a water curtain, an aromatic pool, a Finnish sauna, a Turkish bath, a hammam, a flotation tank, and a hydro-massage pool.

As if that wasn't seductive enough, there are also three VIP suites with saunas, treatment beds, whirpool baths, showers, and private catering. Sigh…
