Your Birthday in Taylor, Mississippi

Your Birthday in Taylor, Mississippi

Poet and Been-Seen.com contributer Terri Phillips recently took a road trip through the Southern United States and sent us an evocative collection of words and images illustrating her experience in the small town of Taylor, Mississippi. Enjoy!

Wow, way to be original for your birthday celebration! Nobody from more than a few miles away had ever gone to Taylor to celebrate a birthday, but you changed that. I’ve been there a few times and it’s always felt like some Wild West ghost town likely caught up in a moonshine epidemic. But I love the distinctly Deep Southern vibes you grooved to on your birthday. You’re very observant of culture. I love the way your synthesis of pictures and prose–and of first, second, and third persons–tells so rich a story in such little space. Thanks for sharing!

Any comments?
