LA Story

LA Story................................(LAStory9.jpg)

When it comes to comedians and American cities, Woody Allen has made New York his own. In 1991, Steve Martin attempted to do the same for Los Angeles. As it’s the vision of funnyman Martin, unsurprisingly it’s loaded with slapstick. People in LA are quirky? They rollerskate, they have enemas, they have breast augmentations. No kidding. Personal favorites? Shots around the murals and Boardwalk in Venice Beach (second from top). Steve Martin skating through the halls of the LA County Museum of Art (pictured above – apparently Martin’s a big donor, which may explain why they let him do this!). A foray through the wonderful Hollywood Forever cemetery (below).

There is even the chance to see some landmarks that are no longer there. The Tail o’ the Pup outdoor hot dog stand on San Vicente in West Hollywood (below), and the Ambassador Hotel on Wilshire, doubling as L’Idiot restaurant. Gone but not forgotten. – Roshan McArthur
