Nest House

How's this for a twist on the traditional treehouse? A swinging tree tent, designed to look like a nest. It's the work of Spanish industrial designer Gerard Moliné, who makes the case that our lives are too complicated, and we need to simplify them. After all, he says, birds don't pay rent. He has a point.

He challenges us to do what birds do – settle into a nice spot and use natural resources to make ourselves comfortable.

No need to make a downpayment or sign a contract. No need to paint walls, lay flooring, or buy expensive furniture.

The Nest House is a simple metal and rope structure, into which you can weave leaves and branches for insulation and privacy.

Hang it from a tree, with strong tape, climb inside and go to sleep. Or use it to watch the world go by. RM
