Hanging around
If Christmas has left you wanting to dangle like a bauble from a tree, Free Spirit Spheres may help you fulfill that urge. A cluster of wooden balls suspended from the rainforest at Qualicum Beach, Vancouver Island, they're just about as unique a vacation rental as you'll find.
British Columbia, Canada, is already quite a draw, but these spheres make it all the more appealing. There's something magical about sleeping (gently rocking) above the ground in a handcrafted wooden ball, suspended from a web of rope. Visitors describe it as being 'adrift in a sea of trees and stars' and a 'magical pumpkin suspended in the air'.
Two of the spheres are available for nightly rental, and the company also has spheres (or the components to build your own) for sale. I think I need one for my backyard. RM
