Chateaux boxes

A box that is a room that is a sculpture. A prefab room on wheels (a fixed point that is also mobile). A sanctuary for people to escape to—whether to read, write, listen to music or work on the computer-the Chateau becomes a private space within another space. Talks about personal space and the increasing instability of life in motion. Invokes a luxe life where the longstanding tradition of class wealth and the modern collide. A setting we know, but rarely inhabit. 'CHATEAUX' by artist James Westwater will be shown in October at the NavtaSchulz Gallery in Chicago. KH
