High Speed, High Fashion
When it comes to interior design on trains, there's rarely very much to get excited about. Drab grey covers encrusted with chewing gum, plastic arm rests, blue carpets spattered with coffee stains. So, we love the new look Christian Lacroix has created for France's TGV Est. 
After ten years of service the SNCF TGV Réseau trains were deemed out of style, and a partnership between MBD Design and fashion designer Christian Lacroix was chosen to give them an haute-couture makeover. 
The result is this streamlined, but bright and airy design which has been spreading across TGVs for the past few years. 
Seating is spacious, with folding tables, little office cubicles and family seating areas. There are also dedicated handicapped areas, a sleek bar area and space-age bathrooms. 
For a designer normally noted for extreme flamboyance, this is pretty tame stuff. But for the interior of a train, it's revolutionary. RM
