Cherry Blossom

Wouldn't it be nice if every step we took made the world around us more beautiful? Cherry Blossom, an interactive installation by Antenna Design New York for the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum, is designed to make this dream come true. Hidden cameras monitor traffic on the staircase, and as people walk up and down the stairs rings of cherry blossoms follow them, projected on the installation's two-story-tall semi-cylindrical screen. When nobody is on the stairs, the blossoms drift away, replaced by a projection of gently falling snow, making the point that movement is a source of warmth and beauty.
