Pool House
This new house is situated in the former jungle spa area and will be our most amazing house to date. Continuing the ‘TeaHouse’ – tradition, we created a complex area with garden, pool, living room and 2 bedrooms. From the secluded 16×16 pool you have the perfect ocean view as well as from the living room. Think private paradise on earth.
No interior pictures yet – we are still under construction but here are some ‘mood’ images to get you in the mood for this new addition.

Our Jungle suite made it all the way to the UK this month. Onto the cover of Elle Decor’s travel section. Nice trip.

The combination you create to fit your style. Any combination of nights between the 2 hotels is possible and the rates you can find here.
A Match made in heaven.

No road. A thirty minute boat ride takes you from Boca de Tomatlan to the bottom of a hill near the small village of Yelapa. You then walk up the meandering path while the mules carry your luggage. Mules never fall. All day long they quietly negotiate the path’s thousand steps. Stone after stone, they helped build a Verana that wouldn’t exist without them. Scattered in the jungle on top of the mountain, eight hand-made bungalows. No names, no arrows. Purely organic, incredibly beautiful. Watsu pool, papaya and avocado facials, banana wash and carefully hand-picked objects. The pool is the colour of stone, constantly refilled by the source coming from the mountain. There is a coati hiding in the bushes. At night, candles light the tables overlooking the bay. Only a few candles. Verana is real.

Transcript: …….. Even when cash is tight, we need to check out from the world every now and then – and spare no expense doing it. At least I do. I’m a great advocate of the well-timed splurge. It’s not only necessary; it’s good therapy. By making money no object, we sign a contract with ourselves to stop sweating the small stuff. As Ray Charles put it, “ I you wanna have a ball, you gotta go out and spend some cash.”
For me, the best way to exercise this profligate impulse is to recharge in an outlandishly fine hotel. Once,Once, after recovering a weeklong ultramarathon in the broiling Sahara, I booked one blissful night in Marrakesh’s legendary La Mamounia, where Churchill wrote his memoirs. No regrets. In the Amalfi Coast town of Ravello, my wife and I blew our kids’ college nest eggs to stay just a few nights in a 12th-century palazzo with a restaurant headed by two star Michelin chefs. No regrets.
But the best splurge I ever had was last spring, at a magical place called Verana (verana.com), on a jungle hill 30 miles south of Puerto Vallarta. Created by two European set designers/builders, Verana is a triumph of primitive-chic minimalism crafted entirely by hand and maintained entirely by hoof. ( Everything in this roadless paradise has to be hauled up by burros, including your luggage – but not you.)
The total aesthetic manages to be both ragged and clean-lined, sumptuous and spare. There’s a fabulous library, a spring fed pool, a gourmet restaurant with a dead- serious tequila collection, and eight stylish suites open to the thrumming jungle. Call it flip-flop luxe. I found the place so inviting, so calming, so effortless in tune with nature, it actually repaired my soul. Of course, the bill was astronomical. But….no regrets.
