Log Cabin

Intimate, simple, sometimes even a little primitive, the cabin is an American icon. Its appeal is both as a basic form of shelter and as a treasury of feelings, sensations and memories of family and friends. More than just a structure, the cabin is a way of life. Our cabin is located on a twenty acres piece of land in a remote meadow 7500 feet high surrounded by the Sierra National Forest. When we discovered Far Meadow, this classic American log cabin was already here. So we gave it a face lift, modernizing the roof and updated the interior. It’s close to the A-frame cabin, but in a world of its own.

The log cabin blends classic style with contemporary flair. We‘ve added a large deck outside for reading, napping, or contemplating the nearby river, trees and meadow.

Slow down the pace of your life. Time runs more slowly at Far Meadow.

Spend your nights around a camp fire, telling stories.

but corner windows bathe the interior in soft, romantic light.

Inside the cabin you’ll find a spacious room with a hardwood floor – and authentic wooden walls. There’s also a queen-size bed, a single bed and a sofa bed.

The real deal. The walls really are made out of logs, and shelves are stocked with books about the region.

It may be small, but the kitchen has been fully modernized and stocked with everything you’ll need when you arrive. But remember, you also have a BBQ outside. What would be a cabin without the BBQ ribs, links , potatoes and the almost ritual gathering around the fire pit.

Your own bathroom,  Shower, hot and cold water – of course.

And what log cabin would be complete without a wood-burning stove? At night, or in winter, keep warm around the crackling fire.

Cross the little bridge through the pine trees, and you’ll find yourself in the meadow.

A Frame Cabin, Surroundings

These meadows and wild flowers look almost too good to be true. But take it from us, they are.

Gentle streams run through the grass.

You never know what you’ll find.

Peace, tranquility.

And natural abundance.

Log Cabin, See and Discover

At the far side of the meadow are rock formations which are great for climbing on. And all around the cabin, there are trails and Indian sites to discover.

You can hike to lakes and swim in crystal clear water .. that in August is not even cold !

Just a few miles up the road you can see the famous Globe Rock – it looks as if it could fall at any moment, but centuries of weather, earthquakes and humans have not moved this rock

Many swimming holes are near by.. you will need to hike a little, but what a reward !

i thought of another ? Are there snow mobile rentals in the area? Could a novice operate one and be able to get to the A-frame and back alive?

We offer anything which will allow guests at Far Meadow to experience this special place. Nevertheless we will be closing the summer season by Oct.15 to get ready for the winter. We are about to post some images how Far Meadow will transform once the snow settles in. During that time a wedding might be a major task since it’s only reachable by snowmobile. Vero
