There are some hotels that make you start planning vacations. I already love Greece, especially the Cyclades islands with their incredible volcanic landscapes and whitewashed buildings - so I only really need a slight nudge to want to go back. Seeing the Cavo Tagoo is like someone giving me a huge shove.
Nestled into a cliffside on the island of Mykonos, Cavo Tagoo was recently remodeled by architect-owner Paris Liakos, with two emphases in mind: nature and modernity.
The local rock is a big feature, and the hotel blends seemlessly into its environment, the building perched on the stone of the mountain and its infinity pool seeming to cascade over the edge of the cliff.
The white buildings are softly curved and the interiors whitewashed with bold splashes of color, from red to blue to gold.
The guest rooms are a great contemporary minimalist twist on traditional Cycladic architecture. There are 80 in total, all with Jacuzzi bathtubs and separate shower, and 33 rooms with private pools.
Unsurprisingly they also offer all the modern amenities you could ask for. All this, and pristine ocean views as well. I want to go now. RM
